Dieudonne Cedor was a renowned Haitian artist who was born on March 8, 1925, in Anse A Veau. In 1947, he joined the Centre d’Art, where he developed his skills in painting and sculpture. The following year, he became a teacher at the Centre d’Art and was also a member of the board of directors. Cedor was also a co-founder of the “Foyer des Arts Plastiques,” an institution that promoted the arts in Haiti.

Cedor’s work has been exhibited all over the world, starting from 1969, when his artwork was showcased in Miami, Columbia, Venezuela, Panama, and other countries. In 1967, he executed a mural at the then Francois Duvalier International Airport in Port-au-Prince, together with fellow artist Jean Nehemy. Cedor’s artistic style is characterized by bold and bright colors, often depicting everyday life scenes, and his work is highly regarded by many as one of the greatest living Haitian artists.

His art is on permanent display at the museum of Haitian art at St. Pierre College in Port-Au-Prince. Cedor’s artistic talent has also been recognized internationally, with one of his admirers being the late President Nixon, who was a great admirer of Haitian art and considered Cedor as one of his favorite Haitian artists.

In addition to his work as a visual artist, Cedor was also a prominent figure in the Haitian art scene, serving as a mentor to many young artists and inspiring them to pursue their artistic dreams.
